Porcupine

Nyack suddenly developed a severe right side head tilt and had trouble standing. While this improved over a few weeks of antibiotic treatment, it was still present so with the cooperation of a local imaging facility, Nyack was taken for a CT scan. This showed he had an infected middle ear, and also an infected nasal sinus. Subsequently he underwent surgery at the Veterinary Specialist Group to open and drain both of these skull compartments. He is now back in his usual enclosure living a completely normal life, with a barely perceptible slight head tilt. He is awaiting the arrival of a mate from Wellington Zoo.
